Physical Fitness:

The physical fitness is considered as the ability of an individual to perform a specific physical task at a high level of effort. It not only covers the physical aspect but also has many other aspects on which the physical fitness varies. The statement issued by the American Medical Association clearly defines physical fitness as.

“fitness for living rests first of all upon a solid foundation of basis of basic good health—fitness for living implies freedom from disease; enough strength, agility, endurance and skill to meet the demands of daily living; reserves sufficient to withstand ordinary stresses without strain; and mental and emotional adjustment appropriate to the nature of the individual. physical fitness is but one element of total fitness.”

Physical fitness is a combination of qualities that enable a person to perform well in vigorous physical activities . In other words, physical fitness refers to maximal functional capacity of all systems of the body.Every time when we move, we are exercising and keeping our body tuned and in good running order.

The human body is framed in such a way that it can be bend, stretch, run,jump, climb and do more tedious work. The body becomes stronger when it exerts more. The involvement of muscles matters a lot in shaping a body. When we do any work or exercise, it helps in improving our health and builds up our energy and stamina level.

 

AAHPER YOUTH FITNESS TEST

  1. PULL UPS

The students are advised to warm up before they participate in test. All the students must be medically fit. This test has six following items:

1.(A) PULL UPS FOR BOYS              

   (B) FLEXED ARM STAND FOR GIRLS

  1. Sit ups
  2. Shuttle run
  3. Standing long jump
  4. 50 yard dash
  5. 600 yard run-walk

1(a) -:-(A) PULL UPS FOR BOYS 

PURPOSE-:-TO MEASURE ARM AND SHOULDER STRENGTH.

PROCEDURE-:The bar is adjusted according to the height of the student. The bar is held with palm facing away from him. The student is advised to raise body so that the chin reaches the level of bar. One score is awarded for each pull ups.

(B)  FLEXED ARM STAND FOR GIRLS

PURPOSE-:-TO MEASURE ARM AND SHOULDER STRENGTH.

PROCEDURE-:-The bar is adjusted according to the standing height of the student. The bar is held with over hand grasp. The student lifts his/her body with the help of assistance of testing personnel so that his/her chin reaches bar level. The elapsed time is taken as score. The score is nearest second.
