Description
Preface
Yoga is experiencing a rebirth in popularity around the turn of the third millennium, thanks to its promise of personal betterment, physical well-being, and spiritual development. Yoga is more than just a practice or a set of disciplines; it is the entire science of life.
National Education policy (NEP-2020) & National Curriculum Framework (NCF-23) envisages a broad-based multi-disciplinary holistic education at the various levels for integrated, rigorous exposure to science, arts, humanities, mathematics and professional fields having imaginative and flexible curricular structures, creative combinations of study, integration of vocational education and multiple entry/exit points.
A holistic and multidisciplinary education will develop well-rounded individuals who possess critical 21st century capacities in fields across the arts, humanities, languages, sciences, social sciences, and professional, technical, and vocational fields; an ethic of social engagement; soft skills, such as communication, discussion and debate; and rigorous specialization in a chosen field or fields. Such a holistic education shall be, in the long term, the approach of all programmes, including those in professional, technical, and vocational disciplines. Yoga 360: A Holistic Approach is a unique manuscript of its kind. It includes multidisciplinary aspects of yoga such as Indian philosophy, yogic text, applied knowledge of yogic practices and Yoga Therapy, Nutrition and Allied Sciences. The crux of this manuscript is a new translation of the complete Yoga text into simple, lucid and comprehendible language. This examines yoga in modern life, exposing its popularity in the twenty-first century and analysing its relation to health and science, contrasting yoga’s holistic approach of healing with that of modern medical science. This manuscript would be apt for various courses of Yoga at undergraduate, postgraduate, UGC NET JRF, diploma and certificate programmes undertaken by various universities of India and abroad. This manuscript will also enable students to qualify for different levels of Yoga Certification Board under Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
